Bill Bolger – Vice President Central Region for Gannett Publishing Services

Bill Bolger is the VP Central Region for Gannett Publishing Services or GPS.  In his current role he has responsibility for the 15 Gannett print sites in his region as well as 6 non Gannett sites that print either USA Today or daily Gannett newspapers or both.   In addition to working with each site on operational quality, timeliness and efficiencies, Bill works with the sites on commercial printing opportunities.
Prior to the GPS, Bill was the VP Operations in Indianapolis and a Regional Production Director.

Bill joined The Indianapolis Star in 1996 as the Director of Operations responsible for Production and Building Facilities.  From 1999 through 2002, Bill directed The Indianapolis Star’s $72 million press project at the Pulliam Production Center.  In 2002 he was promoted to Vice President/Production and in 2007 added the Information Technology department to his responsibilities.  Bill has been recognized as a top production executive within Gannett as a recipient of the company’s President’s Ring in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

In 2008 Bill was named a Regional Production Director within Gannett.  In addition to his duties at The Star, Bill worked with the Regional Gannett group President on operational issues at the Gannett sites within the region.  This role was in a way, a first step toward the regionalization of production operations that have now come to be the Gannett Publishing Services (GPS).

Prior to Indianapolis, Bill was the Director of Production for Knight-Ridder Inc.   He began his career with Knight Ridder’s Miami Herald in 1982 in circulation.  He joined production operations in 1985 and held various positions including mailroom manager, pressroom manager and production manager before moving to his position with Knight-Ridder Corporate.

Bill holds a BA in Business Management from the Catholic University of America and an MBA from Barry University.
