With your setting spray at the ready (try Caudalíe Beauty Elixir, $86 – one of the best toners, face mists and setting sprays ever), begin your party regime by lightening up on foundation and trying dewy bases and tinted SPFs such as Airyday’s Golden Glow SPF50+ Dreamscreen, $51. Next, take a leaf out of make-up artist Mallory Osses’ book with her signature look – blush swept over the entire cheek. We love Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Glow Blush in 10 ($80) to create this cute effect.

Underpainting, in which bronzer and blusher are applied before a light coating of foundation, is still a popular technique. “Underpainting was made popular by Mary Phillips, who uses this technique on her celebrity clients such as Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner,” says celebrity make-up artist Brooke Simons. “We’ve certainly moved on from harsh contours and heavy highlights and this gives a natural approach to contouring.” To get the look, start with Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzer ($84), then cover with Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Contour Concealer ($51).

Pearly, luminous skin is also on trend, either with traditionally placed highlighter worn high on the cheekbones or with an all-over effect. The stalwart for luminosity is still Guerlain Météorites Illuminating Powder Pearls ($113). These beauties not only give great coverage, they are one of the most gorgeous-looking beauty products on the planet.

For an instant summer party boost, mix some bronzing drops into your foundation or moisturiser. Try Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops ($60) and keep them with you at all times.

Red is still a forefront lip colour for summer, though if your skin is fair, a blue- or purple-based red is a good choice (we like Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Lip Blur in Ruby Blur, $54.) And if your tone is more olive, try Fenty Beauty Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in The MVP ($45). Whichever hue you choose, keep it looking fresh by pairing it with a natural eyelash finish such as a double application of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in 110 Clear ($7.50).

For the final touch, highlight your hair with a glittering accessory. For this, you can’t beat our current obsession, the fabulous array of pony cuffs at cult brand Lelet (from $91). One for me this Christmas, please!

What’s a good at-home treatment to get my face in peak condition for the party season?

An LED light therapy mask is a good all-rounder, plus a great way to de-stress at the end of a hectic day – try Qure Q-Rejuvalight Pro Facewear ($519). Just three minutes a day will do the trick.
