It’s turning out to be a busy morning in the newsroom. Trains on the Midland, Ellenbrook and Airport lines have cancelled between Perth and Bayswater due to an incident.
Replacement buses are running between Perth and Bayswater, but may not connect with timetabled bus and train services.
Woman hit by car in Kings Park
In breaking news, a pedestrian, understood to be a woman in her 50s, has been hit by a car in Kings Park and rushed to hospital at Priority 1 speed, as confirmed by St John Ambulance.
We’ll bring you more on that as we have it.
Christmas miracle as old lady found safe
Some good news to start the day – after being missing for three sweltering days, 82-year-old Patricia Dixon was found in Thornlie thanks to her dog’s bark alerted rescuers.
Our colleague Sarah Smith at 9 News Perth was in the right place at the right time to capture this rescue after Maltese shih tzu Jess, who had remained at her owner’s side since they went missing on their walk, then saved her.
Dixon was pulled from a creek and seen to by paramedics, while a vet checked over Jess.

Christmas lights shine bright across Perth
As work winds down and schools finish up for the year, you might be looking for some fun ways to get into the festive spirit.
Several free light trails opened on Monday night – the Mandurah Christmas Lights Trail at the Ocean Marina with 30 different installations to view, and the Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail, involving 20 installations across the CBD.
Travelling to see some Christmas lights might be one of the more affordable ways to celebrate.
Another trail at the Wanneroo Botanical Gardens involves 21 different light displays to visit throughout five acres.
Plus there are fake snow machines, a restaurant and mini golf to enjoy – just make sure to book online with only 10 per cent of tickets reserved for walk-ins each night.
Today’s weather
Our heatwave continues with a top of 37 degrees and it will only increase to 39 tomorrow.
Good morning
Good morning readers, and welcome to our live blog for Tuesday, December 10.
We start today with a quick, albeit admittedly personal question: do you have a will organised?
The reason we ask this is because a massive intergenerational wealth transfer looms as Baby Boomers fall off the perch – and many West Australians are forecasting things will get messy when it comes to who gets what inheritance.
A new report found 42 per cent of West Australians either did not have a will in place or were unsure whether they did, while 14 per cent penned their wishes more than a decade ago.
Meanwhile, a pertinent topic as summer starts with a bang: how energy-efficient is your home? It’s a question worth pondering as air-conditioning pushes our bills higher.
But, as Sarah Brookes reports, Perth’s most energy-efficient suburbs aren’t located in our city’s poshest postcodes – in fact, they are nowhere near them.
Thanks for joining us this morning, and stay tuned as we bring you more news you need to know.
